How to find a guitarist?
Rachel Lynn asked:
I’m only a 14 year old girl, but I so desperately would love to make it big in a hard rock band. I have a huge range for singing (which I am quite proud of =]), I play piano, flute, and I love to write lyrics. But this is going to be very hard for me because I like the Evanescence kind of style — classical, heavy, unique. I WILL find a way to mix piano and even flute in with rock/metal stuff. But I’m afraid this is going to be very hard because I’m a girl, and because I don’t play the typical rock instruments.

You probably think I’m way too picky by now, but I’d like a guy guitarist. Honestly, I think that would be way easier to handle than with a girl band. You know what I mean? Anyway, the impossible thing is probably finding a guy who would be willing to play this type of music, willing to be in a band with a girl, AND is just as passionate with music as I am. Any advice, other than the old “make an ad” thing?
the guys i know at my school that play guitar aren’t really into it and don’t expect it at the least to become a future career. =[

the best route to go is to write out your songs on piano and flute….create a demo….this will show people you are truly wanting to make something of it….it doesnt have to be perfect ,just a rough draft….then post an add on craiglist, myspace, school,or your local newspaper ad ,explaining what you want from this project.and what sound your going for….with a link to where they can hear the demo..then hold open additions…this way,the guitarist will know what to expect and want to be a part of this band….this will save alot time and not waste the time of others…i wish you the best of luck!
